Sarina Duggal was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment last week for her role as a member of a gang that controlled drugs supply in and around London and Birmingham and supplied in Bournemouth, the Metropolitan Police said. The criminal has been identified as Gufran, who was wanted in multiple cases of murder and dacoity. According to the UP Police, around 5:00 am this morning, a special task force team was conducting a raid in Kaushambi district. Gufran was confronted by the team and opened fire following which the cops retaliated, and in the ensuing cross-firing, he was shot and injured. Gufran was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. Gufran was wanted in over 13 cases including murder, attempted murder and robbery in Pratapgarh and other districts of Uttar Pradesh. The UP Police had placed a bounty of ₹ 1,00,000 for this capture. Former employees who this newspaper spoke to said the company last made PF contributions in November and a few shared their PF passbooks that showed payment only till November 2022. A former employee on condition of anonymity said the company has offered many employees only one month’s salary as severance instead of two months and that they are having a tough time in getting another job. Arpit Singh, another former employee with Byju’s said, he is struggling to get a job and that his family is entirely dependent on his income.
